Magic Circle

This series of pieces was made between 2016-18, and reflects my experiences of the time. There was an issue with my property, which put a stop to work in my studio. I fought back, hiring alternative space, and persevering, until a war was finally won.

Talisman (the horseshoe) is a historic object, found deliberately concealed under the floor at the threshold of my old house. This practice, common in 16th- and 17th-century house building, was believed to ward off malevolent forces. It was an idea which fed into the whole series.

Supernatural, (the blue heron) is one of my favourite pieces, as is Magic Circle (parasol). Their lightness seems all the more intense next to the darker pieces.
